Pencil Holder

A great way to organize your pencils and crayons and keep them that way. This project upcycles used containers.

Materials
  • A used container with a lid; the best containers are those about as tall as your pencils

  • scrap paper or construction paper

  • glue or tape

  • pencil

  • scissors

  • paint (optional)

Instructions

1. Make sure your container is about as tall as your pencils and has a lid. Here is what we used.

2. Trace the lid of the container onto construction paper. Then cut out the circle and glue it to the top of the lid.

3. Trace circles onto the lid, making sure the circles are spaced out well. The number of circles you can make is based on the size       of the lid. We traced around a glue stick and made 5 circles. Cut the circles out of the lid.

4. Decorate the lid however you like... we went with a ladybug design. If you want to do the ladybug design also, all you have to     do is outline each circle with red marker (or red paint). Then scrunch up some paper tape (you can also scrunch up tissues) into     balls; these will be the heads. Paint these black and add eyes. Lastly, draw spots around the ladybug.

5. Now label each circle... we used white paint to make labels and then wrote on them in pen.

6. Now trace the bottom of the container onto some construction paper. Cut out the circle and put it into the container.

7. Put the lid on the container to complete your pencil holder.

8. You can decorate the sides of the container now. Here, we made the outline of some grass using construction paper. You can         also paint designs onto the side.

9. Now there is only one thing left to do... put your pencils, pens, markers and crayons into the right holes in your pencil holder!

Finished!
